"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has".

What is grassroots?
The primary purpose of this Web site is to provide education and awareness to all ASCRS members about current activities in the legislative arena that require your involvement.
Through this Web site, all ASCRS members will have an easy way to contact their elected federal officials about the issues that affect them, their practice, and their patients.
Action Alerts will inform you about the important issues facing ASCRS members, and then assist you in taking the action needed 013 whether it is making a phone call or sending an e-mail, letter, or fax.
Why is it important?
Grassroots is important for a very simple reason: nearly every day, legislators consider legislation that can have an impact on you, your practice and the patients that you serve.
Legislation and politics go hand-in-hand. To maintain a successful program, your activities need to be a year-round effort. Being involved in just one aspect is self-defeating. When you work hard to elect a candidate, it is your obligation to follow-up and keep them informed about issues that affect you, your practice, and your patients. Do not assume they will always vote your way. Keep in mind from the time candidates are elected, they are going to be lobbied from many different directions on every issue. You must make sure that one of the voices they hear is yours!
Additionally, you want to ensure that the elected officials who are supportive of physician issues are re-elected. Your constructive engagement in the political process is essential to making our voice heard!
Legislators pay close attention to what the voters - and especially their constituents - think and say.
For ASCRS to be successful in our legislative efforts, we need your involvement! You are a critical part of the equation!
